![]() We both work from home, so the truth is that we don’t NEED a new car (or car payment), However, we love doing outside activities like hiking and cycling, and we recently got a dog. My wife and I have a budget of $350/month for a future car, and so far, we have $24k saved that would be used as a down payment for the new vehicle. The car is in pretty good shape externally, but there are some internal issues, and I rather not spend more money on it. I currently drive a 2011 Kia Optima with 119k miles (but only 3k miles on the engine that got replaced in July).
